Checklist for First-Year Students

STEP 1: First-Year Application (CommonApp)

Submit your Application online.

Apply to New Jersey City University (commonapp.org)


STEP 2: High School Transcript

Please have your School Counselor submit your Official High School Transcript via Naviance or by mail.

If you have completed college coursework at a community college or another university, you must also request to have that official transcript submitted to NJCU for transfer credit consideration.


STEP 3: SAT or ACT Scores

NJCU is test optional, meaning we do not require test scores for students applying for admission to the university. 

Please submit your SAT/ACT Scores to the Office of Admissions.


After Submitting your Application

After submitting your application, you will receive an email confirmation from Common App.

All applicants will receive instructions on how to check your application status via our online GothicNet system. You will have access to review missing items along with next steps.

Admission decisions are made on a rolling basis. Applicants will receive an admissions decision upon completion of the application. We thank you for your patience while we ensure a holistic review in the application process.
